Feather Hair Extensions - Just Can't Get Enough!

With summer soon coming to end - stores beginning to put their summer fashions on clearance and make way for back to school - I can't help but to start planning for all the hottest trends for FALL / WINTER 2011.

I’ve been doing my research online and keeping an eye on the street and all over the fashion/style world and I’m seeing lots of new and re-created styles being picked up for fall 2011..

First BIG trend I’m already loving -- and has been around a bit .. But it NOW being kicked into high gear is FEATHERS!

Feather hair extensions can include real Rooster feathers attached to your hair as an extension with a mircobead -- I know this trend was popular on the West Coast over the last winter-- but I’m from the East Coast and right now it’s the trendiest thing to have done at a salon visit.

(see photo of Kim Kardashian rocking them HERE.)

Hint: With quick a trip to a beauty supply, craft store and/or fishing store you can do feather hair extensions on your own for much cheaper!

Feather hair extensions are now also coming in the form of actual colored feathers of all kinds on a strand and mixed with beads and other items to accentuate your hair in a whole new way. (Here’s one you can buy already done and ready to where from HOT TOPIC.

In addition to feathers -- splashes of color peeking through the hair are a great new trend that’s picking up steam. This is a highlighted streak in any color you’d like that is placed behind chunks of hair - so that they only peek through and give a POP that isn’t too reminiscent of 80’s punk hair.

Jersey Shore start Nicole Pilozzi aka “Snooki” is rocking this trend right now - her dark mane includes a number of bleach blonde and light neon pink streaks. (See this Fashonista post for pics of Snooki’s extensions.)

And even if you aren’t looking to go permanent with these crazy, but cute locks - clip in human hair extensions provide a great alternative to still rocking the look for fun summer weekends and nights and then easily going back to your toned down look for weekly office attire.

I made a few trips to local fishing/sporting good stores, craft suppliers and beauty supply shops to pick up items and try putting together these extensions on my own - I'll be posting a blog following this post about that experience and the final result of my feather clip in hair extension project.

Be sure to check back at the Best Beauty Blog as I rant on the next trend I see start to pick up.... Any guesses on what crazy trend Winter 2011 will bring??
